Gordana Kuić (1942) was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
A graduate in English Language and Literature from the
University of Belgrade, Philology Department, she worked
as the English Teaching Advisor at the American Embassy
in Belgrade, and the Soros Foundation in New York.
She is the award winning author of nine best-selling novels
as well as two books of short stories. Gordana Kuic is
a winner of the prestigious Women's Pen Prize (Zlatno
Pero), 5 Golden Best-Sellers, and two Book Fair Prizes.

Two books of short stories entitled "Remnants"
and "On the Other Side of the Night"
"The Scent of Rain – a ballet for Riki" was
premiered in Sarajevo, 1992, and in Belgrade at the "October
Music Festival".
Nebojša Romčević wrote a screenplay based on the novel
"The Scent of Rain in the Balkans", which was
premiered in Belgrade, on the 12th of April 2009, AT "Madlenianum"
Theater.
Television series "The Scent of Rain in the Balkans"
(14 episodes) was shown on National Television with great
success. It was directed by Ljubiša Samardžić, screenpaly
by Đorđe Milosavljević.
Televison series "The Blossom of Linden in the Balkans"
(13 episodes) was shown on National Television as well.
It received superb reviews. It was directed by Ivan Stefanović.
"The Scent of Rain in the Balkans" has been
translated into English, French, Hebrew, Slovenian and
Polish.
